PRAGUE- Thirty-two highest, third-degree flood alerts were declared in the Czech Republic at 11:00 a.m., while there were 56 alerts of the second degree of danger, the Environment Ministry told CTK today.
The first flood alert, "watchfulness," is valid on almost the whole of the Czech Republic.
There are still local rains, but weather forecasts do not predict precipitations on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
In two cases, fire brigades preventatively evacuated local residents, Pavel Vinopal from the Fire Brigade Corps told CTK. The evacuation was conducted in some regions in South Moravia.
Water experts say that water level is growing on the upper and middle reaches of water flows. It is to culminate today or on Sunday, Jaroslav Kinkor from the Water Protection Department of the Environment Ministry told CTK today.
"The situation is nowhere critical and we do not have to implement radical measures. The teams are mostly pumping out water from inundated cellars or lagoons, monitoring the water flows and installing sand bags," Vinopal said.
