Hungarian champions Debreceni VSC have named Miroslav Beránek as their new coach, with the Czech trainer signing a contract for the remainder of the season.
National service
Beránek replaces Attila Supka, who resigned following the club's defeat by F.Y.R. Macedonia’s FK Rabotnicki in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round, and arrives after four years spent assisting Czech Republic coach Karel Brückner.
Credentials
The 49-year-old was involved for his country in both the UEFA EURO 2004™ and the 2006 FIFA World Cup campaigns, having previously worked in club football with FK Chmel Blšany and SK Slavia Praha. Among his career highlights, he guided Chmel Blšany from the second to the first division, before leading Slavia to success in the Czech Cup. He was also coach of the victorious Czech Republic team at the 2002 UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals.
