Czech Cubism developed in a unique fashion during the brief period of 1911–1914. The scope in which the style influenced the applied arts and architecture in the Czech lands is unmatched in Europe. Before World War I, Prague was an important centre of avant-garde art and Czech artists, influenced above all by French art saw through the new style that was universally labelled “New Art”.
